MWR Switches Up Car Numbers

Here's a real switch up of a surprise for me:

Michael Waltrip Racing (MWR) is picking up the car No. 47 for the last 4 races of the 2008 Cup season, and Marcos Ambrose will be driving the car at Atlanta with Little Debbie as their primary sponsor.

MWR will be returning the No. 44 car number to Petty Enterprises and the owners points that the No 44 accrued this year will be switched over to the No. 00 for the 2009 season. It kind of works out for everyone, right?

Does this have something to do with the talks that Petty and DEI are having?

Rick Hendrick has a Sponsor for Earnhardt Jr

Hendrick Motorsports has a sponsor for Dale Earnhardt Jr., but Rick Hendrick isn't saying who it is. (Oh come on!! Now he's just torturing us!)

"We're all done, we just can't announce anything right now," Hendrick said Friday. "There are some more little pieces and parts to it ..... ..... Hopefully we'll be able to announce everything in the next couple of weeks." (I wonder if he was drinking a Pepsi product when he made that statement? Did anyone out there see him when he made that statement??)

As far as the car number for Dale Earnhardt Jr, despite everyone clamoring to find out, Hendrick stated "It's not going to be 8," Hendrick said with a smile. "Nor the 25.".

And then to torment us some more, he said, "We're just trying to look at all the options and look at cars all decaled up and see which one we like the best." (All decaled up!? So .. aarrgghhh... I guess we will just have to wait while he has his fun with us. I say FAN VOTE!!)

Jr's Number

So some of us Diecast collectors, T-Shirt owners, Hat wearers, and if you were brave enough, Tatoo wearers (Dave Moody on Sirius say NEVER get a tatoo of anyone's number, because you never know what might happen! Wise man, that Moody. ) are wondering if we need to start saving up money to get the new scheme coming down the line.

Some station I was watching had brought up the old budweiser ad about jr going to the 6.7 car, and the timing of that recap was pretty funny at the time.

Well, it seems, that DEI's mouthpiece, (Because Teresa doesn't think we're important enough to talk to herself) , Max Siegel said Friday that he would be willing to discuss a transfer of the number. (Yea, they were willing to engage in contract negotiations also!!)

The entire article is over on ESPN.com for your own edification of details if you need it.
