Boat Load of Pictures from Sonoma

Yes, I sometimes take forever to get some things done, but I finally do get to them.  With that in mind, I finally sorted, edited and posted over 60 pics from my weekend at Sonoma.  (Thanks to On Pit Row for the access!!!  It's a cool site... go see what they have going on over there.)

This is a Facebook album.  And definitely check out some of the wheel-lifting action I picked up while there.  (The lead-in image is one of my favorites, because if you click and look closely, Greg Biffle is still counter-steering while going past my spot in the fence opening.  What a rush!)

If you don't have Facebook and would like to see this material in a different location that everyone can get to, PLEASE CHIME IN in the the comments section.  I'm all about tailoring the website visitors experience here on NASCAR Bits and Pieces.

Sonoma Album on Facebook.

Shameless Plug:  And I would not mind a like or two of the page itself.  Just don't forget that after liking, that you need to click on "get notifications" under the like menu so the page updates don't fade from your news ticker.  I mean, that is, if you like me enough to want to keep seeing my weekly noise!

Pictures from Sonoma on A Sunday: Sprint Cup Race Day!

So Saturday was practice and such and then came Sunday at Sonoma Raceway for the Toyota/Savemart 350!

First up, the energy around the place from the fans and teams alike is a bit different.  Fans are more juiced about the coming storm and teams are digging in and making sure they're prepared for it and in some cases, ready to beat that storm!

I was running around on Sunday getting more crazy pictures.

They range from seeing the various templates used, to the procession of drivers heading into the drivers meeting, and getting snaps of the drivers as they came onto pit road after the lap around the track from driver intros.

I snapped a couple of the ladies about the track, a few racing pics and something sort of special from the pole-sitter.

On Friday, Ambrose and representatives from Stanley presented a $100,000 donation to the Ace Hardware Foundation and Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in Victory Lane at Sonoma.

If you take a look, you can see between all the sponsor stickers a very serious and heart-touching momento as Ambros is Racing for a Miracle.

On the side of his car are names.

"The special paint scheme will include the names of the four "Honorary Crew Members," as well as one child from each U.S. state and Washington D.C. Each name featured on the car is a current or former Children's Miracle Network Hospitals patientwho has met their unique medical challenge with courage."

So please, take a moment a ponder the car.  And remember, if you feel like you want to help, don't be shy about sending even a single dollar.

Think about it... if everyone who watched the race on Sunday only contributed a single dollar each, that would be a quick few million.  So please, don't be shy.

Did I mention getting a few pics of a few ladies?  I think you might appreciate the few I snapped.  Your welcome!

Some NASCAR Sprint Cup Race Pictures from Sunday. (It's a Facebook album, but you don't need an account to view if you don't have one.)

Sonoma Raceway Saturday Sprint Cup Practice Pictures

I was tooling around at Sonoma Raceway on Saturday during the two practice sessions.  Almost everyone spent time on the track, except for the plain-wrap red No. 51 car of Kurt Busch.  Never saw the car on track and never saw Kurt.

Any how, I got some pics of our pole-sitter, and a few of the rest of the field.  I spent a chunk of time around turn 4... some good images came from there.

Check out the collective of pictures from Saturdays Cup Practice at Sonoma on my Facebook image album.  (It's public.  You don't need an FB account to see it.)

Car Photos from Daytona International Speedway

Hey all, I had a "man" on the inside...  OK, at the track and he snagged some images for me to use here on NASCAR Bits & Pieces!  My "man" is Leon Hammack, the power behind Working On My Redneck and he embodies the cooperative nature of cool, co-peers in the world of blogging.

With that said, check out the cool pics he sent me from Daytona, from the '72 hours of Daytona!' (click to enlarge) -Bruce

NASCAR IMAGES Revs Up it's Business

Here are some tidbits from an article I came across:

With television ratings and attendance for races down slightly, the league is looking to NASCAR Images, the entertainment production and marketing division of the motor sports behemoth, to bridge the gaps.

NASCAR Images, the entertainment company that repurposes NASCAR content into TV, film, home video and licensed consumer products, is completing its first full season wholly owned and run by parent company NASCAR Digital Entertainment.

The compound is three times larger than the Super Bowl's broadcast setup and delivers signals for Fox, ESPN, TNT, DirecTV, Speed and Sirius. In addition, the company scouts new opportunities to create exposure for NASCAR to find more fans while keeping longtime audiences connected to the brand.

DVD successes such as "The History of NASCAR," new shows including Biography's "Driven to Win" and an Emmy and record ratings for "Dale" on CMT have all counted as coups for the organization. Heading into next season, even more race coverage is in the works.

NASCAR Digital Images was created in 1999, the year media rights were consolidated by NASCAR. At the same time, NASCAR and Fox purchased Sunbelt Video in Charlotte, N.C., and turned it into NASCAR Images to serve as a production company for additional content.

To read the rest of the pretty lengthy article, go to TVWeek. It's a pretty interesting read.
