Landon Cassill Is Out at BK Racing

News today is that Landon Cassill has exited his ride at BK Racing, effectively immediately.  It seems that there were some issues with his 2012 contract with BKR, which impeded the process of securing a contract for the 2013 season.

(CONJECTURE:) With Cassill out, this makes room for David Reutimann to take control of the wheel for the 2013 season for the BK Racing Toyota.  (The No. 83 car.)

This is sad news for Cassill fans, but Reutimann fans are probably pretty ecstatic.

Cassill left gracefully, noting the facts about his contractual issues, and adding that,

"I would like to thank my BK Racing team and especially Burger King and Dr. Pepper for the opportunity to represent such iconic brands..  I'm looking forward to my next opportunity in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series."

Leaving gracefully is always a bonus for any professional athlete and Landon seemed to conduct himself rather intelligently.

Red Bull Assets In Play, Landon Cassill Driving

Jennar Fryer is Treaking (Twitter & Breaking) some news that Landon Cassill will be driving the No. 83, with Doug Richert as his crew chief.  The No. 83 will come into the sport with the points that Red Bull racing accrued last year for the No. 83 efforts.

Also,

That there will be a second car.

At the time of Jenna's tweets, but she was hearing that Travis Kvapil could be the driver the second car.  There's no team name yet, but she reports that the team is owned by former TRG investors.

It's good to see that the team is getting back out there.  That means Cassill's got a job, probably Kvapil if the NASCAR news is accurate and some other folks will be keeping their jobs and a few others will be getting new ones.

Landon Cassill Exits Front Row Motorsports

Just a few weeks before the Daytona 500, and you expect news like points swaps and what not.  That's the norm, but you don't usually see driver leaving their NASCAR Sprint Cup Team, willingly.

But that's exactly what happened the other day.

Landon Cassill resigned from Front Row Motorsports, with the reason cited as being offered a full-time ride with another team.

-

Speculation on the street says that Cassill is headed to the entity that bought up the Red Bull Racing assets recently.  (Wasn't Michael Waltrip pondering those assets recently???)

Front Row Motorsports will be naming a replacement soon, and it's been said there are no hard feelings between FRM and Cassill.  They recognize that they didn't want to get in the way of Landon having a chance that presented a better opportunity to him.
