Jimmie Johnson, The Ford 400, The Race Lineup

Right now, if you were to look at some stats, it's not looking good for Jimmie Johnson. For others, the stars have aligned nicely.

David Reutimann got his very first pole for Sunday's race while Jimmie Johnson looked to struggle and has qualified 30th for the Ford 400 at Homestead, putting the team at a disadvantage in the pits.

His 30th place starting post does not belie the fact that in the first practice session, Johnson was 6th quickest - so the starting spot isn't too worrisome. This is the kind of drama NASCAR likes!

Edwards has it a little better, as he's got himself the 4th starting spot and finds himself 7th on the speed charts from the first practice session.

Carl has better pit position but we have all seen how Johnson and his team handle adversity, not to mention all he has to do is finish in front of a few cars to lock himself into the Cup, the will runneth over when he crosses the finish line 36th or better on Sunday.

Behind Reutimann, is Scott Speed, Matt Kenseth, Carl Edwards & Kevin Harvick rounding out the top 5. (screen shot, nascar.com)

Line Up for the TUMS Quik Pak 500 at Martinsville

With qualifying having been rained out, the line up at Martinsville is lined up by driver points. That would mean that the favorite driver at Martinsville wil be leading the pack to the green flag... if there is no rain and weather reports say it will be fine. Clear and a high of 61 degrees.

Keeping his chase efforts strong and alive, Jimmie Johnson snags his 2nd pole position in three races for the Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway, followed by Juan Montoya, Denny Hamlin, and Kurt Busch!

CA NASCAR Cup Lineup

Today weather was not an issue, but clouds that crept in may have impacted the final results for the NEXTEL NASCAR Cup Sharp AQUOS 500 Race at California Speedway.

For the first bit, Ryan Newman had the pole, but he qualified under the sun and as the qualifying progressed, clouds moved in and the track cooled.

Whether that was the reason or not, Ryan got relegated back to 4th, as Kurt Busch took the pole by .001 seconds from Jimmie Johnson, followed by Kasey Kahne, Ryan Newman, Kyle Busch and Elliott Sadler making up the front 3 rows for the Cup race.

Dale Earnhardt Jr is starting 7th, Tony Stewart is starting 22nd. (I guess he needed Toyota power?) And Jeff Burton, in the naked AT&T car is starting 15th.

Scott Riggs, Ward Burton and Dale Jarrett did not make the race.
