In the front half of the 2014 season with all its new rules, some folks were worried how queit Jimmie Johnson had been, with no wins.  Now, three wins later, I don't think they're wondering any more.

Jimmie Johnson won the Quicken Loans 400, making this Michigan win his 69th NASCAR Sprint Cup Series victory.

Prior to the start of the race, the following cars dropped to the rear of the field for the reasons indicated: #33 (engine change).

Ryan Truex failed to qualify.  But qualifying, with its new format, provided a lot of speed marks over the 200 range also.  It's been a stellar weekend.

Dale Earnhardt Jr To Have Justice League Member On His Hood

Dale Earnhardt Jr. Will Have Another Justice League Member On His Hood at Michigan International Speedway this upcoming weekend.

Last year Dale Earnhardt Jr took to Michigan and dominated the race, and his sponsor for that race was The Dark Knight Rises.  It was an awesome looking paint scheme and Dale Jr. took it to victory lane.

This year Dale Jr is headed to Michigan, this time in a new car type, and a different member of the Justice League on his hood:  Superman.

To be more specific, Dale Jr will be carrying the National Guard "Soldier of Steel" Superman logo on his hood.

On a side note:  I've been seeing early reviews of Man of Steel, and if anyone was thinking of seeing the movie, I don't think you'll be disappointed.  Early reviews are looking pretty good. -Bruce

NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Official Race Results Fr Michigan

What a crazy and yet interesting race from Michigan International Speedway!

First we had Mark Martin dominating the front third of the race, but in a weird wreck, he was driven into the pit wall in a visually scary wreck.  And that wreck is the focus of many today, as folks ponder how that inside wall at Michigan (And any other track) can be set up to be safer, in the odd-ball chance someone hits a section like that again!

Then others were fading left and right, from Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon.  The biggest smoker of the day was when Jimmie Johnson's engine blew.  What a day, but Greg Biffle was laying in wait and took the checkers from there.
