NASCAR Opens Up Testing, And REDUCES Nationwide Field Size

Whoa!  As a fan, I just said "Whoa."

NASCAR just announced that they are reducing the maximum number of entries to race in a NAtionwide Series race down, from 43 to 40.

The reasoning was that they want to

"strengthen the ownership base up and create a sense of urgency among teams"

The other series are not impacted by any new field size changes.

NASCAR Lightens the Test Restrictions.

In 2013, NASCAR has said that for the Sprint Cup season, there will be up to four tests per organization available to teams at tracks at which the series competes.

In the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series, NASCAR will be allowing up to two tests per organization at tracks where those series compete.
