Wow, if there was one thing I never saw coming, it would have been that Matt Kenseth leaving Roush-Fenway Racing. Yet, my world was shaken.
And here when I saw a piece from a financial website of all places on Monday morning talking about Kenseth maybe leaving Roush Racing, I sneered at it. Seriously? Sure... and I didn't even bookmark it for reference. That's how ludicrous it sounded. And yet, they were on the mark before anyone said a word today.

Jack Roush announced today that after fourteen years of service, Matt Kenseth will be leaving Roush-Fenway racing at the end of the year. In his place, Jack Roush will be putting Ricky Stenhouse Jr. in the car. Stenhouse Jr. is the defending NASCAR Nationwide Series champ.
Jack thanked Matt for his years of loyal service in his announcement this morning and added that the timing right now will give the team plenty of time to line things up for the 2014 Sprint Cup season.
And all this while Kenseth leads in drivers points.

Where Is Kenseth Going?
That's the million dollar question and every single point, perspective or guess is just that, guesses at this point in time. No official word has come out about any opportunity at this point in time and we will just have to wait and see.

Roush Fenway Management Team Has New Player
As I am sure you all remember, back in Feb of 2007, Fenway Sports Group (FSG) bought into a 50% stake of Roush Racing, making it Roush-Fenway Racing.
On Monday, the 25th of August, FSG announced the appointment of the ex Managing Director of Corporate Marketing for NASCAR, Brian Corcoran. He will assume the position of Executive Vice President, Business Development & Motorsports.
Corcoran will be overseeing the operations for FSG's NASCAR division which includes Roush Fenway Racing and Yates Racing and will be identifying and developing new sponsor and revenue opportunities for both teams. (Heck, I even forgot they had a piece of Yates.)
It seems they're bringing in the big guns to start bringing more money into the Cup teams.
I call him a big gun because it's he's credited with bringing Nextel to Cup and Nationwide Insurance to, well, the Nationwide Series. The premiere part of NASCAR is called Cup. Can't we call the Nationwide the series Bowl, or Fork or something? Then we distinguish that league, regardless of who sponsors it.
Most fascinating, indeed.

Promotion for Robby Reiser
One of the longest crew chief-driver relationships in Nextel Cup will end after Sunday's finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway as Robbie Reiser, who has been Matt Kenseth's crew chief since 2000 and long before that in the Busch Series, has been named general manager at Roush Fenway Racing.
He is replacing Max Jones, who will move into the GM role at Robert Yates Racing. RYR and Roush recently formed an alliance that basically will allow them to work as a seven-car operation without violating NASCAR's four-car cap. (Oh here we go again!! I guess Roush figured out how to get around the 4 car rule!)

Carl Edwards to Wear Specially-Designed Firesuit
Fans of Carl Edwards, driver of the No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion in the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, have the opportunity to bid on a one-of-a-kind racing firesuit and helmet in an online auction to benefit City of Hope National Medical Center in California.
