Travis Kvapil Charged With Assault on Wife

Sometimes the news is just shocking.  In this case, per reports, Travis Kvapil was having an argument with his wife, when he grabbed his wife by the hair and dragged her into the bedroom, and then subsequently struck her in the head.

911 was called to the house Tuesday night and Kvapil was booked with misdemeanor assault and false imprisonment.

He was later released on a $2k bond and at this point in time, is refusing or waiving his right to a public defender.

He's not allowed to go home nor have contact with his wife aside from telephone and email.

They have three kids.

NASCAR released a statement saying,

""NASCAR does not condone the actions with which Travis Kvapil has been charged and we are disappointed to learn of this incident. We have been in close communication with the race team and are in the process of gathering as much information as possible. NASCAR takes this matter very seriously and will continue to monitor the situation as it moves forward.""

And it's unclear if he'll be racing this weekend at Charlotte.

Police say Travis had a good attitude during his proceedings with law enforcement and he has no record of this kind of behavior in his past.

Hopefully, everthing will be worked out for him, even as extreme as this sounds.

But it would take a bigger man than myself to actually show up at the track after this.  He will have a lot of press inquiries to answer to if he does show up and compete this weekend.
