Kurt Busch Replaces Regan Smith At FRR

Next year in the 2013 NASCAR Sprint Cup season, Kurt Busch will be replacing Regan Smith at Furniture Row Racing.  This was announced today around mid-afternoon. (Monday, 9-24-12)

For the team, it was a tough decision, but they didn't feel like they were getting what they wanted out of Regan Smith and could further their goals with Kurt Busch behind the wheel.

Regan Smith drove for Furniture Row for four years and the team had nothing but good things to say about the driver.  Smith also was responsible for the teams first win back in 2011.

Kurt Busch brings quite the resume to the team though:

  • 427 Cup starts
  • 24 wins,
  • 89 Top-5's and
  • 171 Top-10 finishes.
  • He's qualified for the Chase 6 times in 9 years
  • He was the 2004 championship.

(Anyone remember that left wheel rolling down pit road at Homestead?)

This comes with the knowledge that the team Kurt presently drives for could be out of business if no primary sponsor is found for next year.  But with Kurt being out, that may have sealed their fate.
