It seems that Kyle Busch wasn't looking at a 'Plan A" to leave Hendrick Motorsports as their contract negotiations carried on, but that is what Kyle now has to do as any other option with HM is not there. This article touches on that a bit: The Gaston Gazette
But what seems to be an interesting angle to all this was an article over at ESPN that says that Kyle's agent, Alan Miller, had kept him in the dark about different things that were going on in the negotiations, including Miller fielding incoming inquiries from other organizations showing interest in him.
Kyle was even also surprised initially to learn Dale Earnhardt Jr. had been signed to replace him.
