Carl Edwards and the No. 99 Roush Fenway Racing team have been penalized 25 points after Edwards' race-winning Ford failed postrace inspection following Sunday's Dodge Dealers 400 at Dover International Speedway.
Edwards drops from third in the Chase For The Nextel Cup standings to sixth after the 25-point driver penalty.
Roush Fenway Racing plans to appeal the penalty, the team said in a release. - ..."we are being penalized for a violation that actually impaired the car's performance."... (I guess that says it all there.)
