Yeley Out of HOF

by Bruce Simmons :

Brad Coleman will take over the duties of the No 96 Toyota fielded by Hall of Fame Racing, displacing J.J. Yeley from the car.  Yeley is currently 36th in points in the driver standings, while Coleman has been a test driver for the team since '07.

Coleman will be starting his drive to 'Fame' at the August 17th Sprint Cup race in Michigan.  Coleman currently drives the No. 27 Ford in the Nationwide Series for Baker Curb Racing and is 16th in the standings. He has started all 23 races and has one top 10.

Despite Yeley only having only one top-five finish this year, it's a shame that HOF did not take note of his ability to drive the No 20 car towards the front of the traffic pack in the Coke-Zero 400 when he took over when Tony Stewart took ill.  (Or iller... or is that more ill?  More ill.)  The No 20 was headed for a top-10 finish easy before he got collected in an accident aftermath.

Maybe HOF might have noticed how well he was doing in decent equipment, and rather than switch drivers like some fickly home owners switch real estate brokerages after a few weeks of non-performance, concentrate on their equipment program instead.  Doh!  Did I just say that?  Yea, I did.  Considering their lack of faith in Yeley, rather than them "not looking at themselves", maybe it was a personality thing amongst the team.

Yeley did have a go at it in a good team in the No 18 Joe Gibbs Racing garage, and didn't really make headlines and maybe, just maybe, it is about personalities between team members.

Tom Garfinkel, co-owner of Hall of Fame Racing, mad the statement that "We all share responsibility that our performance hasn't been what it needs to be, but we concluded it was time to make a change."

Yea - that's code for personality issues.  Isn't it?
